It was a perfect warm day in Westwood, California for the world premiere of 'Tag The Movie.' The cast and other actors walked the red carpet before watching Jeff Tomsic's directorial debut inside the Fox Village Theater (currently operated by Regency Theaters under the name Regency Village Theater.)
'Tag The Movie' is based on a real-life group of friends from Spokane, WA, known for playing a month-long game of tag. The real-life group of friends were also in attendance and I found out directly from them that they still play the game till this day and while in the movie the game is held in the month of May, in real life they play in February.
I was lucky enough to attend the red carpet prior to watching the movie with my friend Ivan. The red carpet was filled with media outlets and a live DJ as the cast made their way into the theater. Most celebrities took their time to take pictures and sign autographs with the fans.
After the red carpet, fans were escorted inside the theater where each person got a free 'Tag' t-shirt, popcorn, and a water bottle. It was crazy to be inside the same building as the cast and see the movie for the first time. The audience seemed to generally enjoy the film and express their emotions with laughter and applause throughout the film.
I really enjoyed the film and at the end of it, I got to speak to some of the real-life group of friends where I told them that their idea was genius and something I would enjoy doing with my group of friends. Overall, this movie as the director mention before the screening is about staying silly, staying connected with your friends, and being brave enough to be stupid in your life.
'Tag The Movie' will be out in theaters Friday, June 15th.
